Elysion Cleaning Process

Finally got round to cleaning Elysion who's been swimming in Simple Green far longer than Achilles had.

He's my first LBX as well as my first gunpla, so you can see my inexperience with the clumsy, botched paintjob. But boy I love him so.

The cleaning process was the same as Achilles'--a spray bottle of water to keep the pieces moist while I removed the paint with toothpicks, sandpaper and needles for hard to reach crevices (an embroidery needle and a cross stitch needle, one's sharp as fuck and the other blunt).

Unsurprisingly, pieces I had done over in gold paintmarker were hard to clean on account that I heaped layers and layers of color on them.

You can see how lumpy everything was. Anyway, cleaning process pictures are found below!

Water turned blue. I'm not quite sure why. It's the same Simple Green Achilles had been dunked in.

Even after around three months of soaking in Simple Green, there was still paint residue stuck fast to the plastic.

I had to scratch the paint off with the needles. Damage done to the plastic is about the same as sanding it with 600 grit. Not a bad trade off to get them clean again.

Here's everything after washing all the pieces with dishwashing detergent.

There are still smudges of paint I failed to remove. See those brown bits near the tip of the headgear.

The scratches on the shield are from the sandpaper. The scratches on the orange pieces are from the needles. I actually didn't do much sanding as I did Achilles to get the nubs off, come to think of it.

And there you have it! Two LBXs squeaky clean and waiting for repaints, hopefully more skilled than the first.
