My first go at doing a face up + full body blush. Pretty fucking proud of it, considering I did it in under three hours (not advisable, I tell you).
I learned a lot. One being how I wasn't too bad at this as I had originally anticipated. Another is that I sorely need to practice my spray can usage. I thought my MSC was going to give out on me, thus sparse sealing, which resulted in chipped joints. It was a fun experience. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'll revamp him entirely when his things from Taobao arrive, but for now, Honey will be keeping this look.
my favorite parts (✿´‿`)
Now, I'm not an expert on freckle tutorials out there but I've seen enough to confidently say it's one helluva good tutorial, since the materials used are simply soft pastels mixed with water and a brush for flicking. Neater, safer, easier to work with, and produces more natural-looking freckles compared to other tutorials I've seen and/or watched.
Bottom line is looking at actual freckled people and seeing how their freckles go up and down their body really helps. Like, a lot.
All parts cleaned with dish detergent and water, air dried, sealed with MSC Flat once, except for the head, which was sealed thrice.
Like any well-meaning beginner, I didn't know how to go about sealing all the parts at first. It was a good thing I had a stash of chopsticks I knew I was never going to use anyway, and in true plamo fashion, mounted them. No pictures, but it looked hilarious. Anyway...
hands and feet
legs
thighs and thigh joints
Gentle reminder I had been rushing while doing this. Thus many of the freckles look like plain ol' splatters. This shoulder being an example. It's like he wore a sleeveless shirt and forgot to put suntan lotion.
arm bits
torso front
piece de resistance aka back freckles (fucking love them yo, so sexy)
abs + happy line
lower back frecks (love how the freckles dwindle from the upper back)
a shot of my room i guess
pelvis + peen
...which I may sand off or lessen/resculpt since it interferes with decent clothing affairs. Mirodoll is known for this, so I hear?
butt
All parts sealed once after blushing, so over all they've only been sealed twice, thus no surprise when the color started chipping at the joints once Honey was up and about.
Finally, the face.
At first it was nerve-wrecking, then it was frustrating. Because apparently my make up brushes weren't as clean as I thought they were, and soft pastel residue from a project I had back in January kept leaving dirt everywhere on his cheeks, nose, and upper lip.
No paint for this. Just decade-old Faber Castel watercolor pencils and Mungyo soft pastels. Brushes used were make up brushes, because they're immensely more effective for your average face ups than any artist or painting brushes.
What can I say about his face? I guess I'm glad I had a go at it before his wig and eyelashes arrived? I mean, now I can see what to improve and how to improve it. Learning curve, steep and spontaneous as I like them.
Honey in kuya's borrowed wig and clothes!

back frecks aaaayy back frecks
I love him. I'm absolutely thrilled to see him standing...sitting and whole. He's one goal I've been working towards since over a year ago, when I wasn't exactly in the best of times. It sounds ridiculous, crazy, and even negatively obsessive from a non-doll owner's point of view but I don't really care. When I see him he makes me smile, and that's comforting especially after a tiring day.
I may do a Mirodoll body review in the future, when Honey's looking more like himself.
