Achilles: Assembly and Completion!

I decided to spray the parts with Tamiya Pearl Clear (TS 65) instead of Flat Clear like I had originally planned. One reason was that I had a clear plastic bit in one of them but I just wanted Achilles to shine, really, and it worked quite well!

Look at that fayse. That's a happy fayse

On the rooftop

You can see the shine from the Pearl Clear

Fayse :)

The shine on the bit of armor

Some loss of weathering detail but nothing too big

Weathering still there after sealing. You can see the glittery effect from the Pearl Clear

Same w the leg

Achilles ❤

I must add that he has none of his original stickers since I kind of wrecked them when I first pulled him apart. I tried to compensate best I could. The red bits were manageable but after my rather unslightly spoon test, I can't say the same for the blue, hence the lack of detail on his arms. Also no cape yet since I want a proper cloth one and have yet to make it.

I'm so proud of him! I'll do a proper photoshoot in good weather. Two LBX built, ten to go!

  1. Try Pledge Wipe and Shine(Future ang brand name sa ibang countries). It's really inexpensive, parang 1L less than 200php (get the one in the white bottle). Plus if you hate the results you can always use the leftover on your floor. I loooove shiny wooden floors..
It's opaque blue but after spraying it's clear. On its own it's glossy but you can add a bit of tamiya flat base to get a flat appearance. The only thing I hate about Wipe and Shine is that it seems to darken the model a bit. Plus I don't know if it would work if you try spraying it with a garden-variety sprayer. (you know, the one that sell for around 50 php).
On the weathering side, try drybrushing and washing.

    1. Ooh...Wipe and Shine as in for topcoating/sealing? I'll try drybrushing when I'm not too lazy to use my soft pastels ^^; Unless you're talking about drybrushing w paint? I've never tried or read about it before :O

  2. Yes, for sealing. Pwede rin as preparation for weathering. If you mess up with the weathering you can remove whatever you added. The paintjob underneath would then be safe underneath the coat. Makes sense?
You can also try buying pigments for weathering. Ewan ko lang which is cheaper, pigments or that weathering kit from tamiya.

    1. I see I see :D Are pigments for weathering just paint na pwedeng gawing wash or iba? :O A bottle of Tamiya paint is 80 where I buy it from and those Tamiya weathering kits (the ones that look like eyeshadow??) cost 290 if I remember right....

  3. Pigments are in powder form. Pwede for drybrushing and also to simulate rust, dust or whatever. Ewan ko lang kung pwede gawing wash, I suppose pwede rin. Pero natry ko pa lang gamitin sa wash is the tamiya paint that comes in a bottle. If you painted with acrylic, use enamel for the weathering. And vice versa. Try mo yung wash especially if maraming panel lines yung model. Time-consuming but well worth the effort if done right.

    1. Ooooh! I don't think I've seen pigments beings sold where I usually buy my paints! Saan siya na bibili? Kung powder form pala siya, hindi siya ata pwedeng pang wash ^^: Or hindi ata pwedeng basain :O

  4. Vallejo Pigments. Sa deovir SM North ko nabili. It's around 160php for 30ml. But since may weathering kit ka na better hold off on the pigments until hindi pa ubos un tamiya, they're probably the same anyway.

  5. You're better off sa Greenhills, sa shoppesville. It's way cheaper than sa mga tinitinda sa toy kingdom or toys r us. Pero if you're looking for aircraft, tanks, ships etc try lil's or special toy store.

  6. Yes definitely for convenience. I dont really pay attention to LBXs so I wouldnt know if they do have a lot of them. Pero I bought a 1/100 master grade gundam sa greenhills for 2.1k, sa malls that particular item was priced around 3.7k. San ba suki mo?

  7. GreattoysOnline.com, 3rd floor shoppesville. Marami pa sa paligid pati sa shoppesville plus. Personally I don't like the High Grade Gundams, i feel they lack detail.
